Senate Bill 1318 would require all hospital staff, including volunteers, employees, students, medical staff and contractors to either obtain a flu vaccination every year or wear a surgical mask, while performing their duties in any patient area in the hospital or clinic. The California Nurses Association opposed this bill, stating that it should be left up to the individual whether or not to obtain the vaccine. Regardless of how you feel about SB 1318, be careful this flu season, wash your hands regularly and do not go to work if you are sick.
